Doing Things Alone
Written 3/13/13. Posted 1/7/2014
In the past few years I have found myself faced with doing more and more things alone. Nearly all of my loved ones (family and friends) have significant others or families. I have found something empowering about doing things alone. It's a completely different experience traveling alone verses traveling with others. I can't even remember the last time I flew un-alone. There is a fair amount of awkwardness but I think this comes from cultural pressure. It's not actually awkward for me otherwise. When I tell people that I've done something alone or plan to, most people look at me incredulously and toss out solutions to fix the alone-ness problem.
How to Cure a Broken Heart
1. Get really angry.
2. Resist whatever comes to your mind.
3. Lay in bed and cry a little or a lot.
4. Tear out of bed and immediately start grooming yourself. Wax, pluck, manicure.
5. Take some Xanax.
6. Watch movies about Jesus on the Mormon Channel.
7. Wake up early and try to look hot.
8. Start blogging again.
