A man wanted to get married. He was having trouble choosing among three likely candidates. He gives each woman a present of $5,000 and watches to see what they do with the money. The first does a total make over. She goes to a fancy beauty salon gets her hair done, new make up and buys several new outfits and dresses up very nicely for the man. She tells him that she has done this to be more attractive for him because she loves him so much.!
The man was impressed.
The second goes shopping to buy the man gifts. She gets him a new set of golf clubs, some new gizmos for his computer, and some expensive clothes. As she presents these gifts, she tells him that she has spent all the money on him because she loves him so much.
Again, the man is impressed.
The third invests the money in the stock market. She earns several times the $5,000. She gives him back his $5,000 and reinvests the remainder in a joint account. She tells him that she wants to save for their future because she loves him so much.
Obviously, the man was impressed.
The man thought for a long time about what each woman had done with the money he'd given her.
Then, he married the one with the biggest boobs. Men are like that, you know.

Vinyl Lettering

'You know you're a Mormon if...' you decorate your house with sayings stenciled onto a decorative wall hanging or directly onto the wall. I don't have any decorations like this but if I did these are a few sayings I would display. (I actually DO own at stenciled tile with 'Friends are the Family we choose' but it isn't in a decorative state right now. It's leaning against the wall in my bedroom because I'm lazy and 'The Messier the Better!" ha ha)Monday, May 19, 2008
Daydreaming
The 'Extreme Heat Advisory' message streaming across our television set last night has sent me over the edge. I daydream all the time about moving to a new city. Here are a few I've thought about lately: (It's not going to happen but I like to hope.)
Anchorage, Alaska. It's all because of 'Men in Trees.'

Anchorage, Alaska. It's all because of 'Men in Trees.'
Boise Idaho. Looking at this picture though I'm not so sure.

San Francisco, California. No explanation needed, who wouldn't want to live here? (Dad, put your hand down)

Bozeman, Montana. One of my friends from college lives here.
Portland, Oregon. If you can't tell, I like mountains and GREEN.
TO BE FAIR: Here are some great pics of Las Vegas.

A Very Happy Birthday Indeed

My birthday this year has been great! This is the cake my co-workers got for me. It was wonderful. I worked until 3AM on my birthday, yes, sad but true. When I got home, my bed was decorated with baloons and cards, notes, my favorite treats, and a few gifts were all over my bed! It was wonderful! It was the best time I have ever had at 3AM. I didn't think to get a picture but it was exciting.

The Dreaded Month of May
.jpg)
I don't know what it is about the month of May. It's my birth month so it should be great right? Nope!
Lemme tell you about it.......All of this happened in the month of May each year.
97-Got pneumonia and other 'stress' related problems.
98-Graduated from high school. One my classmates died in an accident.
99-I made the unwise choice to stay in SLC instead of going home for the summer. I cried a lot and then went home in June.
00'-He who will not be named broke my heart! I quit the school I was going to and moved out of the apt I was staying in.
01'-He who will not be named was still in the pic and wouldn't call me for a month. Even forgot my birthday.
02'-This was really Apr-June but I was SO sick when I came home from my mission.
03'-Decided to go to Wisconsin even though I was scared to death!
04'-Went to WI again for the summer. I cried and cried when I got there because I had just finished the best school year EVER! And I knew nothing would ever live up to it.
05'-Nothing big happened that I remember but I was hating life in Vegas.
06'-So very stressful! My roommate was getting married and I was moving in with new roommates and into a new ward.
07'-Luckily I can't remember anything bad happening.
08'-I'm working 3 jobs and am at my wits end! I'm tired of working 15 hour days.

We left at intermission.

I went to The Ark yesterday with a friend. It was put on by a stake here in Las Vegas. I can't for the life of me find a clip of the song that irritated me to high heaven. But the song 'Beauty Queen' got me all riled up. This is a link to a page on Deseret Book's website. You can listen to a clip of the song. As I listened to the song I was getting more and more scared for the young girls in the audience who were being told that they had to be a beauty queen or their husbands would stop loving them. What were the writers thinking?
We DID leave at intermission though so I don't know what happened to wrap it all up. I told myself that Noah's wife must have come and set all of the young marrieds (Shem, Ham, and Japeth's wives) that while being your best self on the outside is important. There are many other attributes that you should develop and value MORE THAT OUTWARD APPEARANCE.
I'm sure my dad would say 'I'm sure it was meant as a joke. Lighten up.' but I didn't get any satirical vibes from the song.
It reminded me of Saturday's Warrior in a way. Saturday's Warrior is doctrinally incorrect which is definitely worse than the potentially self esteem damaging 'Beauty Queen' song from The Ark. Obviously neither of these plays are church sponsored but it still teaches false information to those who participate in any way. I put the blame on the writers for not being more responsible.
WOW that rant was fun for me. I've definitely been listening too much to Glen Beck and Sean Hannity getting all upset about things. :)
