The long answer.....
I'm never going to come up with a better answer to 'so how's the love life?' So here you go.... this is an email I sent to a close friend about a year ago.
I need to think up a good and simple answer for the boy question. The"marrieds" of the church probably don't hear the same things we"singles" do from the general authorities so here is the long answer.MANY general authorities have been giving us very realistic advice on dating and marriage in the past few years. The dating part is the samea s it has always been but they are now saying to the sisters that we must prepare to be single for the rest of our lives because more than ever, it is a greater possibility.
The general authorities are concerned with the marriage age in the church getting older and older and my theory on it is that one way Satan can attack the family is to prevent it from starting in the first place. The general authoritiesare also concerned with the divorce rate in the church. (I know SO manypeople my age who are divorced) So they counsel us very strongly to choose the right spouse according to the Lord's standards and not get caught up in the romantic ideas of marriage. Which probably isn't anything too new but the part of "sisters, you must prepare for the evengreater possibility that you will be single for a long time" is new in my opinion.
So with that said, for about a year now, I have been so so happy. I looked in the mirror about a year ago and said to myself "if i dont get married until i am 55, i will look back at my 20's and regret all of this worrying and fretting i am doing" For some reason, from then on, i have been so much happier and enjoying life and serving and loving my friends and family. Of course I have my crushes just as always but just as always nothing comes of them.
At the end of the day though, i am just so happy in life now. My perspective has been changed and it has allowed me to live my life more fulfilled.The perspective i have right now is that i desire to marry the right man and to have a great marriage. It's not that I just want to "get married" to anyone even if he is amazing. Instead of saying "i want to get married so i need to go out and be social and find a man" i say "i want to get to know people no matter who they are" if i happen to meet a man that i like, THEN i think of marriage a little more but just with that one man, not just toward all men.This might all sound silly to you but there are so many unhappy single girls and i have to give them this speech all the time.

A little random....
A few things I like about being single. No particular order and not a comprehensive list.
1. Sacrament meeting is very quiet in singles wards.
2. Singles wards tend to have very dynamic, high energy, ambitious bishoprics.
3. I like that I can pretty much do whatever I want, whenever I want. Call it selfish but I like it.
4. I can procrastinate laundry and cleaning.
5. I get to give kids back to their parents when I'm done playing with them.
A few things I look forward to when I am married w/kids. No particular order and not a comprehensive list.
1. I love to cook. I am excited to become a MASTER chef.
2. I am excited to plan and complete art, service, etc projects and activites with my kids and hubby.
3. I look forward to having a good reason to drive an SUV.
4. I can make a deal with my hubby where he does the cleaning and laundry. Or justify hiring a housekeeper and laundry doer.
5. I think my dad will be the coolest grandpa in the world! I'm excited to see my mom's face when she holds my babies.
